Possible Career Spectrum for DEEE Students
People having a career in Electrical and Electronics (EE) Engineering are known as mainly Electrical engineers. EE engineering is a branch of engineering that can be pursued in higher education and is linked with electronic circuits, devices and the equipment and systems that use them, mostly with the help of active electrical components such transistors and diodes. Further EE includes communications engineering, power, energy, high voltage engineering, biomedical engineering, control, robotics and automation, artificial intelligence and signal processing, etc.
In addition to the job profile as an engineer, a student can be end up in Excutive and/or Managerial posts as well. If one wishes to stay in Academia, he or she should continue Postgraduate Education either in the department or in another local or foreign University or Institute.

Industrial Traning and Career Guidance Unit
Faculty Industrial Training and Career Guidance Unit (ITCGU) is responsible for arranging, monitoring and evaluation of the industrial training in liaison with the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA). This unit is also responsible for planning and organizing activities in guiding students for gainful employment prospects.

MISSION: Guide students to realize their competencies and train them to plan the appropriate steps to make educational, training, and career choices and develop essential skills that will lead to personal, educational, economic, and social advancement for the individual, family, society, and the nation.
Student Memberships of Profesional Bodies
Most of the Local and International professional bodies provide student memberships to students studying for an undergraduate level or post-graduate qualification and apprentices undertaking apprenticeship schemes in an engineering or technology related sector. Our students can apply not only for memberships in institutions specific to Electrical and Electronics but also in general Engineering or Technology based institutes.
Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka - IESL
IESL is the apex body of engineering professionals in Sri Lanka. IESL awards credentials such as the Chartered Engineer - CEng (SL), AMIE (SL) enabling one to practice as a licensed engineer in the country. IESL ensures internationally recognized and locally relevant standards in the professional practice and education in engineering. After graduation, our students can obtain the Associate Membership (AMIESL) from IESL.
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers - IEEE
IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. Our students can join IEEE as student members and can participate in various activities organized by Student Chapters, Local and Regional Sections etc.
