On March 20th, an inspiring seminar titled "Limitless Possibilities of AI Tools as a Skill (Job Market and Project Trends) for Electrical and Electronic Engineering Graduates" took place at the DEEE seminar room. The seminar was organized by the IEEE-SL Central Region Sub-Section (CRSS) and the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Society (EEES). The guest speaker, Professor Mahesan Niranjan, a renowned expert in AI and ML (Electronics and Computer Science) from the University of Southampton, UK, shared his knowledge and expertise on the topic, leaving the attendees feeling motivated and empowered to explore the exciting possibilities of AI in their field.

A short Biography: Mahesan Niranjan received a BSc degree in electronic engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 1982, an MEE degree in electronic engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands, in 1985, and the PhD degree from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK, in 1990. He is currently a professor of electronics and computer science at the University of Southampton, Southampton, U.K., where he was the head of the Information: Signals, Images, and Systems research group. He was a professor at the University of Sheffield from 1999 to 2008 and a lecturer at the University of Cambridge from 1990 to 1998. He was the head of computer science from 2002 to 2004 and the dean of the Faculty of Engineering from 2006 to 2008 with the University of Sheffield. He has authored or co-authored about 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. His research interests include the algorithmic and applied aspects of machine learning, computational biology, and biomedical signal processing. 

The seminar was opened to all Students and staff of the Faculty of Engineering, UoP.
