EEERaPS & Career Fair 2023

EEERaPS with EEES

09 Nov, 2023

The 6th edition of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Research and Project Symposium (EEERaPS23) was held on November 3rd at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (DEEE) is a leading producer of outstanding research at both national and international levels. This symposium provided an incredible opportunity for undergraduate and postgraduate students to showcase their research findings and innovations, particularly to the local industry. The symposium featured the results of numerous undergraduate and postgraduate projects in the fields of AI and Signal Processing, Biomedical Engineering, Communication and Information Engineering, Power and Energy, High Voltage, Renewable Energy, Electronics and Instrumentation, Robotics, Control and Automation, and more. These investigations provide solutions for a competitive future world, and we are confident that their outcomes will inspire new heights of technological innovation.

DEEE held a Career Fair concurrently with the symposium, in collaboration with several top companies in Sri Lanka. The objective was to offer job opportunities to our final-year undergraduates. Industry experts from each sector conducted in-person interviews to identify the right candidate for their job openings.

Furthermore, two exceptional events occurred at the department, leaving a trail of inspiration. Dr. Janaka Wijayakulasooriya, a Senior Lecturer, conducted an informative session on AI, which was attended by over 400 students from leading schools in the Kandy area and outstations. At the same time, an awareness session was held for those who completed their A-levels and are waiting for admission to an Engineering Faculty. Professors Vijitha Herath, Roshan Godaliyadda, and Parakrama Ekanyake conducted this session, leaving a lasting impression on those who attended.

We would like to express our gratitude to IEEE-SL CRSS, Synopsys Lanka Pvt. Ltd., and Vega Innovations for their generous financial support. DEEE would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the members of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Society (EEES) at the University of Peradeniya for their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts in organizing all the events and publicity campaigns.
