Extension of the Kelani Saviya Program

The first Cooperative Agreement between the two parties was signed in 2007 and extended in 2012 and 2017, respectively. The year 2022 marked the 15th successful year of the strong live collaboration between the University of Peradeniya and Kelani Cables PLC. Kelani Saviya Program, the unique Continuous Professional Development Program implemented under the agreement, has produced over 275 qualified Electrical Technicians specialized in wiring installations over the past fifteen years in 10 batches.

In the official ceremony of signing the Cooperative Agreement held at the Senate Room of the University of Peradeniya, Prof. Lilantha Samaranayake, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, welcomed the participants for the event. Prof. MD Lamawansa, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Mr Mahinda Saranapala, Director/CEO of Kelani Cables PLC, and Dr Anil Munasignhe, General Manager (Marketing), addressed the audience. Dr Prabath Binduhewa, the Course Coordinator of the Kelani Saviya Program, delivered the vote of thanks. Mr Channa Jayasinghe, Marketing Manager, Kelani Cables PLC and Mr Jayantha Wijesinghe, Kelani Saviya Coordinator, participated in this occasion. Furthermore, Dr Wasantha Wickramasinghe, Director of the Engineering Design Center and Dr Maheshi Dissanayake, Director of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Workshop, were among the other participant.
